About me

Hello, I’m Ulyana, a self-taught frontend developer based in Moscow, Russia.

In 2018 I moved to China because of my husband’s work. I had to quit my job as a real estate analyst in Moscow and became a housewife in Shenzhen.

Having constantly worked for 8 years since my university graduation, I never had an opportunity to rethink my career path. Suddenly, given tons of free time I started to consider different options. I was interested in the tech industry and programmers often don’t have a strict need for formal education. The accessibility of free online resources made me feel that frontend development might be the answer.

I had zero understanding of how to start. Luckily, I found an article with a 5-month guide on how to become a web developer from scratch. It took me 10 months to complete the program. I also added freeCodeCamp curriculum and additional tutorials, and started to build my own projects.

Being self-taught is hard, when I started the scariest thing was to face a problem, I struggled with, and couldn’t move further because of it. But during this year I always found a way to solve it, sometimes it took me days and numerous attempts. I enjoyed the challenge and landing on the right solution.

I have a passion for web development. It gives me the possibility to challenge myself and use a mix of technologies and creativity. I like being able to see the result quickly and the endless learning process.

Here are the technologies I use:
